The 2026 11th International Conference on Advances in Energy and Environment Research (ICAEER 2026) was successfully held on October 23-25, 2026 at the Shanghai University of Electric Power in Shanghai, China. Hosted by the university, the conference brought together around 200 experts, scholars, and researchers from China and abroad in the fields of energy and the environment. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on cutting-edge topics, including energy technology innovation, environmental protection, and low-carbon development.

At the opening ceremony, Yang Fu, Vice President of Shanghai University of Electric Power, delivered a welcome address on behalf of the host institution. He extended a warm welcome to the participating experts and scholars, noting that international academic exchange in the fields of energy and the environment is of great importance amid the global energy transition and China's "dual-carbon" goals. He expressed hope that the conference would serve as an opportunity to further advance theoretical innovation and technological breakthroughs in related disciplines.

The conference featured a keynote session with presentations by five renowned scholars from China and abroad. Professor Fengshan Liu from China University of Mining and Technology introduced new combustion diagnostic technologies for low-carbon, intelligent power generation. Professor Amit Kumar from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology discussed greenhouse gas emissions in the hydropower sector and directions for future research. Professor Mohammed JK Bashir from Central Queensland University, Australia, shared integrated waste management strategies for a circular, low-carbon economy. Associate Professor Zishan Ahmad from Nanjing Forestry University explored the potential of bamboo resources as a source of sustainable biomass energy and as an environmental solution. Professor Jiang Wu from Shanghai University of Electric Power presented research on the preparation of bimetallic sulfide photocatalysts and the mechanisms underlying their photocatalytic reduction of CO₂.

In addition to the keynote presentations, the conference featured 26 oral presentations covering a range of research areas, including energy utilization, environmental management, and low-carbon technologies. To encourage young scholars and researchers to engage in high-level academic exchange, the conference presented Best Oral Presentation Awards in recognition of outstanding contributions.

The conference provided researchers in energy and environmental fields from China and abroad with a high-level platform for academic exchange, showcasing the latest developments in these areas. It also contributed to the advancement of international academic collaboration and disciplinary development. We are confident that ICAEER will continue to work with experts and scholars around the world to open new chapters in this platform for academic exchange.
